HELICOPTER SAFETY
While loading and unloading the tail- and main rotors are often running. These are both dangerous and causes great stress for both the pilot and the passangers. A basic rule is to never RUSH close to a helicopter. The times stated on the timetables are times of departure, and you should be on site at least 30 minutes earlier.
Getting on: Wait at a distance of approx. 20 m. from the helicopter until the pilot gives the green light to get on board. Staff on site will help you and carry all the luggage to the helicopter in a composed manner. The pilot and ground staff will take care of the loading of the luggage. Step into the helicopter when the pilot tells you to go ahead. Put on your seatbelts and headphones.
Getting off: Wait until the pilot has given the green light to get off the helicopter. The pilot will then unload all the luggage and one person from the group carries it approx. 20 m. away from the helicopter. Keep at a distance of approx. 20 m. from the helicopter while it takes off and hold on to light objects to prevent them from blowing away.
• Never walk up on a slope next to the helicopter.
• Make sure you keep e.g. fishing rods and other long objects in a horizontal position.
• Hold on to light objects while loading and unloading, and never throw or hand over them close to a helicopter, because doing so could cause them to blow into the tail- or main rotors of the helicopter.
To pack properly Preparation
Pack in small packages, soft bags and appropriately filled backpacks. If possible, avoid big square boxes that steal much of the luggage space. Don’t attach loose articles, such as sleeping bags or shoes on top of your luggage, because this makes packing more difficult.
